A jubilee is a biblical concept, a cyclical time of rebirth, and forgiveness of spiritual and economic debts. The people of the United States can have a jubilee in 2025 under President Donald J. Trump.
And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you. – Leviticus 25:10
There’s an embarrassing amount of poverty in our country. Poverty makes everyone’s lives harder: kids don’t learn as well, parents interact with their children less, workers make more mistakes, a person’s IQ can drop.
When we’re under economic stress, it’s harder to think long term.
The Trump administration is under economic stress too. They inherited a looming debt ceiling crisis and are holding the bag for a borrowed $36 trillion, which cost the US $1.1 trillion last year.
America needs some economic breathing room; a chance for us to collectively catch our breath and evaluate. We need forgiveness for our debts, and Donald Trump can declare a year of jubilee June 14.
Some of our debts are economic. In recent decades, the people of the United States borrowed tens of trillions of dollars, called into existence as interest-bearing debt. We’re paying heavily for the privilege. In 2024, families paid more than $100 billion in credit card interest, while the United States spent 10 times as much on the national debt.
A jubilee is a time for forgiveness of economic debts. President Trump can defeat the national debt by declaring a $47 trillion dividend from the economy and depositing a platinum coin in the US Treasury. These interest-free dollars will pay down the national debt, with the remainder issued to citizens as UBI (unconditional basic income).
A jubilee is a year for forgiveness of spiritual debts. Mass incarceration is a moral stain on our nation. Donald Trump can give second chances to imprisoned Americans, reuniting families now primed for success with UBI.
