Post-partisan governance

A jubilee is a time to put old grievances to rest–like partisan politics. By declaring Donald Trump the winner of that unproductive game, we can create a post-partisan framework for setting national policy, where the people negotiate with the chief executive for passage of legislation.

This model uses 12 metrics to set an annual agenda for writing policy. In the months after the jubilee, a people’s assembly puts forward legislative proposals to accomplish the shared goals. They collect feedback and refine the proposals, which are grouped together in one package and presented to Donald Trump on October 15. As the Ultimate Winner of American Politics, Trump has the leverage to shepherd it through Congress.

Next year, a different 12 metrics will be chosen and the process will repeat, again culminating on October 15. In the 2026 midterms, voters will be able to ignore the false dichotomy of Republican and Democrat and divide candidates into Incumbents and Challengers. Incumbents who cooperate in enacting the legislative packages negotiated with Trump can be reelected, regardless of party affiliation. Should they refuse, they can be replaced with their major-party challenger.
